Green Oak

Green Oak 'Blades'
 I'm getting better at this Blogging thing and thought I would share with you a couple of pics from the building of the Loggia. 

It is made of Green Oak which is such a heavy wood but is so rewarding to work with.  The Architect sourced this timber which was comparatively free from blemishes. 

We made seemingly countless blades for the construction which were mortised into the timbers and then pegged.

The green oak complements the design of this unique building in a lovely setting

Loggia anyone?

For the last seven years I have had the good fortune to work for Simon James of FE James and Son who are accredited by the Federation of Master Builders . 

Simon has given me the opportunity to take a major role in the execution of many projects including this one, a Loggia made of green oak.  I worked closely with the architect Jonathan Lees on this job to achieve the look and feel that the client wanted
